HOW MANY FLUVAL FX5'S ARE YOU USING????

how long have Fx-5's been out, 1 year mabey a little more? unless you have owned alot and they have all failed or know people who's Fx-5's have failed you can't say this- .

Owned 6 FX-5's over 2 years ...... 4 have failed.

i have owned 2 for approx 2 years , also run and have run most of the eheim range , i really like the eheim bucket filters (classic range) ,but i can not fault the fx5 i dont run the foam pads just fill the thing up with bio in buckets. i have had a eheim pro2 leak from the top seal ,obviously your going to get the odd bad filter from any manufacture but i think $ for $ the fx5 is great , the first serious filter fluval have made ,the 404 series was just plain garbage when compared to a eheim and nearly put me off fluval for life but glad i give the fx5 a chance

and you can get new ones off ebay for 160-180 shipped. 925 gph, and 8 liters of media capacity- from my experience they are an amazing mechanical filter.

Try closer to 2.5 years.

928 gph is without ANY media and no head (pump is even with tank). I don't know of ANYONE who runs a filter without any media in it!!!

I use an FX5 on my 100G-its fine. However I feel for solid design and durability you can't beat Eheims (I've had them in the past). IF my FX5 packed up I'd go with one of the large Eheims. Most LFS owners I've spoke to voice concerns regarding the longevity of the FX5

This threads taken off, likw XR has said the FX5 has only been out for 2 years or so, and i got mine for £120 delivered to the door, excellent filters i left one on my 180 for 18 months without being cleaned and was still doing an excellent job. when i cleaned it out the amount of muck that it had removed was amazing.

i have none they are crap

how long have they been selling them 2yrs

look how many people have had problems with them a eheim will last 10yrs + fx5s are braking down now all over the place

they are just one big sponge filter

well i have 2-one on a 90 gallon with a fluval 405, and the other is on my 180 gallon with a wet/dry. i have had my fx5's for a few yrs now, and love them. the only problem is that my substrate is sand, so i have to be careful about sand settling on the bottom of the fx5's--i had to move the intakes to about 1/2 way down the back glass... also, if you get one dont spend the money on those expensive blue and white circular pads-they are a waste of money because they get clogged SO fast. just use ceramic rings and quilt batting...
