How many full grown oscars in a 180?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
The problem with oscars is they fight with each other..often until death.. they just do not stop no matter how many things you do to change the situation.. i even separated and brought them back together after a few months.. they just picked up where they left off.. so if your two are getting along.. you have a good situation..

i think your good man

No your are not overstocked. For that 180 if they all get along you probably could add something else.

Yeah all cichlids can be a pain in the butt. They all four pick at each other but nothing too serious. It is amusing how curious they are. I had my entire arm in the tank taking all the gravel out (a little project of mine) and they were coming within inches of my hand kind of like a dog that wants to smell you.

I don't plan on adding any more fish to this tank, if I ever get more rescues I might take them in if it is life or death. I plan on eventually budgeting out enough money to buy 2 AC110's to complement the sump but I just paid for my honeymoon :hearts: so who knows when I'll have the money. She is pretty cool with me having my tank but since I am still in school money is really tight.

congradulations.. i did not know you were just married.. hey everything may work out perfectly.. it seems the more oscars the less aggression.. when you only have one or two.. they are opt to fight..so lots of luck... and congrads again... wish you both all the best.

I get married in September. I just paid for the honeymoon in advance to book the resort, but thanks :).

Yeah your smart to keep the fish, So your dad has to watch them for awhile at least you still have them. A 180 is a pretty good size tank just keep up on the water changes to aviod HITH disease. Good Luck with the oscars they are pretty personable. Enjoy the honeymoon also.

Here is some pictures of all my Oscars. They move too much so its about the best I can do. What do you think about the new bare bottom look?

May not look overstock base on size of those fishes. But you have to take note of your nitrate levels.
As long as you are willing to do massive water changes, 4 oscar in a 180g would not be a problem as long as there isn't any aggression.
