3 or 4 adults tops but no prs. of any species over 8" . Veja can be hostile especially argentea.

Also, if you were to add 3-6 large adult fish you would run into problems due to no cycle time. Adult cichlids produce a lot of wast.

I don't know how many for sure, but I do know how many I'm gonna try though.

I would just keep large breeding pairs out of the equation.

well, 1 inch per gallon.... so, 12 inches times 12 fish is 144 gallons.... so you can fit 12 foot long fish in there, and one firemouth or convict

i would go with 3-4, depending on the size of the fish.
