How many gallons of water per Red Bellied Piranha?

its not really the amount of gallons its the foot print of the tank... I would say for 5 RBP's 125 minimum so 25 each to answer your question kinda. Some people may say more but I think thats about right

How many piranhas could go in a 180 gallon pond(60''x30''x24'')?

I would recommend 5-6 red bellys in that size tank.
As i stated in the other thread i saw about red bellys, i would get them as babies and let them grow together if i were you.
When i kept them i always got more than i planned on keeping and got them as babies and weeded out the ones that struggled and got picked on as they grew, that way you end up with a very healthy beautiful shoal.

That would be expensive getting rid of piranhas.

Yes. But around here you don't get anything for your fish. I barely got $10 for $100 worth of fish.

wow. Here in MO i got rid of several piranhas, bought them as babies for about $15-20 then sold them for more as i weeded them out cuz they were bigger. I probably would have done the same thing even if i had to give them away for free as i weeded them out simply because of how much stronger, healthier, and more beautiful of a shoal i got doing it that way (also saves you from the other piranhas eating the ones they dont think belong lol)
As always its not the only way to do it, just what i recommend from my experiences with them.

Which would be better-12 1" rbps for $50, 10 2" rbps for $80, or 5 3" rbps for $100?

personally i would go with the 2"ers. and let them grow together and see how they get along with each other as they get bigger and go from there. keep in mind with 10 of them, you are most likely going to have to weed some out as they grow, but you may get lucky and end up with a perfect shoal from the start, ya never know.
