How many gallons per piranha?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I will probably get a 180 gallon pond...... That's not enough for all of them.

Not really bud your looking at something as large as a 220 gl. or larger. These piranhas get huge even held in captivity 30cm i even sighted bigger ones in aquariums. I have 5 around 4" in a 115gl breeder tank i plan on getting two more since these guys seem to be getting along well and there at a reasonable size. Good luck on the red bellies!

Is this a good plan: get 12"rbps, put them in a 125 gallon preformed pond, then when I have enough money and all the "weaklings" are weeded out, I move them to an Intalogs 175 gallon pond. By then I'll have eliminated the fish that don't belong, so the 175 gallon would be enough.

what's the footprint of the said pond? how many 12" rbps are you looking to put in there?
If you are looking for keeping them in pond, have you considered using rubbermaid stock tanks? 300g stock tank would be a great choice and the footprint is great for a shoal. It also has a drain which makes water change super easy.

How could I make that look pretty? No offense, but I certainly don't want that in my house....
