Wait a minute... Did you say your building a plywood tank with the front glass being 6ft long and 20" high? Are you asking how wide you should make it? I mean regardless of what we all say are you going to use that sheet of glass? If so, than I would say to make it as wide as possible to fit where you are placing the tank. If your going to buy a tank I agree with most here and say go as big as you can afford with 240g being the min. size. I think you could make 180 work, but I would go bigger of you can... Filtration will be a priority as well.

Yes Anthony, I am planning to build a ply tank and I won't be doing it without MFKers' assistance because that would only be my second attempt to do it. I'm fairly new to this hobby and I'm really enjoying it. But for now I'm having a hard time removing the calcium deposits off it. I tried almost everything...blade, scraper, 3M scrubber attached to rotary sander, vinegar, salt, CLR...any other ideas? Thanks.

If you have the space then make it a full 4'wide which will allow to use only 2 sheets of plywood w/very little scrap left over, not to mention a 300g tank to show for it. In any case I would strongly advise against rotary sanders or any other power tool. Would hate for you to scratch up that glass so bad that it becomes useless for you.

400-500G cause a bala shark gets 14" and you want 4..2 oscars need 125G the knife i believe gets like 2 feet? not sure on it and a gt needs 75G and im not sure on severums either but roughly 400-500G ROUGHLY cant stress that enough..

I stopped cleaning the glass of calcium deposits for now coz I'm running out of options and "imusuallyuseless" was right I might damage the glass beyond repair. I don't want to build the tank without making sure that the glass will not appear hazy when filled with water. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry I do not know any other way to get the calcium off. As far as size though about 6' long, 2.5' high and 4' wide would be great. If you can fit that where you want it... IMO bigger is better. Your fish will thank you for it. Also, the bigger it is the more fun you can have scaping it. At 180g, which you could make happen, you will need most of the space for water and fish... drift wood and rocks will be tough to fit at that size. Those are some big fish you want to get and you will want them as happy as can be. Go big the first time!!!
