How many Gars

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
depends on filtration and total gallonage. florida or tropical gar would be the only gars that would work in that tank. both top out at max of 24". i wouldnt do alot. Maybe 3 or 4. somebody might have more info on this

Shortnose and Spotteds would also be fine in that tank for life...as for quantity...it really depends on many things i.e. water change schedule, feeding schedule, filtration, other tankmates, etc.
 
Every Gar species will fit except for Gator, Longnose, and maybe Cubans

As for how many um 3 maybe 4 tops... 5 if you are really good at what you do
 
i have an eheim 2028 at the moment and later will also put an FX5 on as well.

Stock is current

three ornatipinnis, delhezi, Geophagus brasiliensis x 2, Gold severuns x 3, pearsei x 2.

I will thin out the CA to maybe just gold severuns and one perrsei
 
i would do a hard core sump and a drip system.... and 3-5 depending on factors
 
chiclids with are a no go with gar. to competetive for food.
thanks demjor(good to see you back in gar forum) i wasnt sure of shortnose gar max size and was grouping spotted gars with floridas
