Hey guys im setting up a 125 gallon tank with dual overflows. I bought a bigger wet/dry (Sealife 200) than necasary for it, now im wondering how many gph i should make the pump? Since im T'ing it off to both overflows, im thinking at least 1000gph? How many times should my tank be turned over an hour? It's going to be a freshwater setup turned brackish in a few months for an archer, mono's, scat, puffer, and columbian shark.

1000, 1500, 2000, 2500? My main question really is how many times my water should be turned over and then I can figure out my pump size from there I supose.

first you need to know what diameter your overflows are
for instance a 1 inch overflow will flow about 600 gph
so fiqure out what you have and match the pump to your overflows
as for turnover you want as much as you can get
if you have 2 1 inch overflows you can turn over your water about 9.5 times a hour

who makes the tank... if its aga the overflows are 600 each

here is a good website for calculating stuffs.. not only drain but almost anything before buying or setting up a whole tank...:D

http://www.reefcentral.com/calc/drain.php?gph=1800

i have a 180 gal tank with two 1" drain and my return is a mag drive 18 (1800gph) piped up at 1" them split in two 3/4" return. well, you need to count for head loss and all sort of stuff. check the website it will help and one more thing... drain must be more than return or else you'll dry up the sump and burn your pump.

your drain should be more than pump out (considering some head loss). i have two 1" drain and a mag drive that pumps 1800gph.:)
how tall is your tank overall?
how much head are you pumping...

i just got my mag 18 today... i gotta pump 4.5 foot up....

my 180 has 2 one inch overflows and i use a little giant 4mdqx pump rated at 1200 gph at a 3 foot head
and i still have to cut the pump back a little

is it straight up 3ft? because i have a check valve, ball valve and a UV Sterilizer plus one elbow, which counts as head loss for me. but in your case...i think your little giant is no little giant.. it must have a very powerful drive inside.... compared to a car.. you got a great torque in it.:) i'll cosider little giant in my next tank if that's the case.:)
