if my tank never saw any chemicals and i had a rather large fish that died i'd prolly eat it too. throw it on the bbq and serve it up. i dont really see a problem other than this pseudo ethical dilemma about how we treat animals we eat vs animals we care for as pets.
Whatever floats your boat man. I wouldn't personally do it because I don't think I'd be able to filet something I've raised as a pet. But I have no problem catching a bunch of walleye or catfish and filleting them up.
yeah good point.,its like saying "no you can't eat that cause it hasent be abused enough for human consumption". instead we should go buy abused farm raised trout and tortured beef from the market. makes no sence.
i hate to see animals suffer! i always make it as quick and painless as possible. but that's still always the hardest part.

umm... dude, I can barely eat anything if I remember it had a face once, which separates me from that dude who just ate a face in Miami. So no, I don't eat my pets, I have a hard enough time with chicken McNuggets!!
On a serious note, HOW THE HECK CAN YOU EAT A PET? That's just weird, sorry. Sometimes I got to call them the way I see em, and eating a pet is bizzaro!!
the first time i killed an rtc is i walk in and he just swallowed my 11" frontosa. i killed him and cut him open with in,like 30sec. the front was still alive but died shortly after. i guess my heart started getting a lil more tough each time. last time i did it it want near as hard as the first

i used to name every fish and No way i could have done that to,them.
but once i got to about 14 tanks, selling as a vendor, breeding/culling. things change. im down to three tanks now. and their are def some of my pets i could never eat. i think I'd be too heart broken to eat anything. others ahh grill em up
