How many in a 120Gal ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would put a school 6-8 in. I had 6 in a planted 55gal and even during spawning the plants and driftwood gave each a hiding spot.

As for tank mates-other dwarf cichlids are good ( mine worked well with rams and checkerboard cichlids. Aslo, when choosing tetras becareful, neons will eventually fit in their mouths and they will eat them, serpae tetras tend to be nippy and eating their fins. Choose tankmates that stay along the bottom. I love cories with angels.

Plants- try plants with big leaves to spawn on like anubias[FONT=arial,sans-serif][SIZE=-1] Barteri, anubias congenesis or vallis grass. Also tall driftwood gives them a sense of security I find

Thanks for that little info Cockroach .

Changed my mind on the tank alitlle .

What i am thinking now is the tank full of Pleco , ( Mustard , Golden Nugget , Clown , Flash , Common and maybe some other sorts ) . Along with a large school of about 10+ Rams and 6+ Angels and maybe some Tiger Barbs and largeish Tetras .

Still going with a group of Angels but not doing a planted tank now as the Pleco's will just most likely eat them all , so i am not going to waste my money on plants .

The tank is now going to be setup full of wood , caves/ hiding spots , sand and gravel mixed substrate and . . . . maybe some fake plants hanging down into the tank .

I Have always thought a pleco/tetra tank would be nice. Pile of driftwood in the middle of the tank, barebottom.

Dodgy pictures of the tank but this is how the tank looks now and will most likely be like when i do change the fish about and get the other Pleco , Angels and Rams ,

and move the Silver Awo , Oscar and other fish out into ever the pond or other tanks .

The only diffrents will be that there will be more caves/ hiding spots put in the tank and probley more wood for the Pleco to hiding under and munch on .

Nice looking tank. I would still go with 4-6 at least. They will have lots of swimming room.

Thanks , going to rearrange he rock work soon not 100% sure if i like how they look , wood i like how that looks just need more of it .

Hi.. I like your tank driftwood setup.. and the idea of plecos and angels and rams sounds good... I would do the tetras but forget most of the types of barbs because of the angels tempting fins.. otherwise I think it will be an interesting tank.. Looking forward to more pics as it progresses.. Something along the lines of -

Ember tetra , Penguin Tetra and Buenos Aires Tetra

But now am now only really thinking on getting the Buenos Aires Tetra .

.
.
.
.

Barbs - Tiger Barb , Cherry Barb , Lemon Barb

But now most likely just the Tiger Barbs .

Of cause the with the Rams .

Buenos Aires tetras love to nibble on plants especially the more delicate kind but may even go for the tougher ones. If they are not well fed the become nippy and could wind up munching on your angels fins. But if you really want them, try keeping a shoal and feeding them well including greens.

The tiger barbs are going to think thay have died and gone to heaven with all that angel fish fin to chow. I wouldn't recommend putting them with angels.

Other choices:
Tetra- emperor tetras are nice, black phantom tetras, black neons, penguins.

Barbs- cherry barbs should be fine, you could also try torpedo bard, five banded barbs or ticto barbs.
