my 2 rays are living in a friends 500 gallon pond... i have a 90 gallon now i sold my 220.... this is more for convo... im just curious as to what mfk considers too many per tank....

I had 2 in a 180 and thought that was too small. I wouldn't want to be kept permenetly in a room 2 or 3 times my body width and I don't think a ray would either. I'm giving mine at least 200 gallons per ray. With rediculously overkilled filtration. There is nothing more beautiful than a ray SWIMMING freely.... NOT relentlessly bumping into the glass like a lost bumpercar.

If the bottom of the tank is over half covered with rays then you have too many.
