Lol. There's a large Jamaican expat community here who speak Patois which, if I'm not mistaken, is considered an english dialect. After many years here I still don't understand it unless they repeat it again slowly. I've worked with quite a few people from Jamaica over the years and their written english is completely understandable.
...but look at the comparative sizes of England and the U.S. or Canada. It's not hard to understand why a Newfoundlander, an Albertan, a Bostonian and a Louisiana Cajun would all sound considerably different; they all live considerable distances apart. But then to see and hear that there are multiple distinguishable accents in a relatively tiny area such as England is amazing.
