How many minor keepers are on here.

I'm just curious how many of you younger mfk'ers have parents that were or are still fish keepers at present? And how many started on their own accord?

Not bashing any one, but just curious, coz i grew up around fish as a kid...

My parents use3d to have a 20 gallon aquarium but that was years ago. It was very overstocked and I did not like fish back then(I was like 5-6). I started keeping tanks larger than 20 gallons.

My mom and dad grew up with fish. My dad used to be an avid fisherman when he grew up in Cyprus. My grandma used to have 3 huge fish tanks. Saltwater and freshwater. My mom always liked them and my grandma still loves fish. She passed that onto my mom. But then my mom is one of those "all these animals you are buying have a mommy and a daddy and you are taking them away people" Omg she annoys me with this every time I get a fish! But, both my parents grew up with fish and fish tanks.

I am 15 and as of now I only have one 36 gallon going, but over the summer I am getting a 240 gallon aquarium (hope to get an aro for it), a pond, and a 10 gallon guppy breeding tank (food for the aro ;) ). For the 240 and pond I will be engineering my own filter so I am very excited. Any ideas for large filters? I am definitely doing a sump for the 240 but not sure about what I'm gonna do for the pond. My 36 is currently a little overstocked with 2 clown loaches, a polypterus senagalus, a green severum, a dojo loach, and a silver dollar fish. However they are all juvenile fish and seem to get along well

I convinced my parents to let me make my own big aquarium by showing them videos and showing my interest in the hobby so they could see how much I really care about my fish

You need to figure out a way to Shut down one of the tanks you have running now. that means You need to do some consolidating or getting "rid of". those Angels are going to need their space.

Uhh, I have no fish right now, but I was 12 when I joined MFK (I know, I know, TOS and such, twas the past) hahaha. At one point I had 200 gallons of tanks running, with my 75g being my brainchild. The 75 had 26x turnover (all filters, no "forthesakeofturnover" powerheads) and needed approximately 0 maintenance. It was very lightly stocked, 6 or 7 glass tetras, 1 stunted goldfish from a 1st grade class, a female betta, and a 3 inch long EBJD. I kept my nitrates under 3ppm. It was beautiful.

Hey! I have a 40g stocked with live plants and nine African Cichlids. 2 Jewels, 2 Buttikoferi's, 2 Rusty's and 3 Demasoni's. I have an external filter, flourescent lighting and a stand which I made my self out of some scrap lumber and a few purchase's. Heres some pictures!
