Just got him. He was basically given to me by the LFS owner who could not ID him. He looks like an Oxydoras niger in many ways, but what is up with that blue?

A rare one... the most i seen was a dark greenish in colour...under light can see green... if it remain forever blue when it is big it will be very nice...do post more update of it..niger growth rate very fast..
it is a niger catfish but it looks nothing like a baby with the colors and it seens rare how much did u get if for aswell

This little dude (4.5in") was a rescue. No one wanted him, but I thought he was cool as hell! Who was I to pass up a free, unidentifiable monster!?! So I think I will start a thread on him, and update it as he grows. Hopefully, someone will be able to pinpoint what my little weirdo is.

Get him fed up as he looks a bit on the skinny side at the moment. As the boys are saying with a bit of food theysoon grow big time.

Don't worry about food. That tank gets fed blood worms, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, krill, tetra color bits (on auto feeder), beef heart, algae waffers, and massivore pellets. Its a discus tank so the water quality is fabulous. Also, we have provided a ton of wood to hide in when he wants. We've seen him eat, and seems to be doing well. Cross your fingers for us cause we really want to grow him all the way up. I would be crushed if we lost him. I love that crazy little guy.
