I've heard that they will do ok in a 55g tank but not sure exaclty how many you can have in the 55g tank.

Ok cool.
I might just wait until this summer when I get a 180 gallon.
:headbang2

I had two.. They were best friends always. They ate together and shared the same hiding places.

i had to get rid of them because my RTCxTSN cat would eat them sooner or later.

They should be ok in a 55g.
I have 4 ropes in a 100g (with tankmates) theyre about 9 inches and very active for a ropefish.

Also let me say - Regardless of the tank size, you need a lot of floor room even if it's just a few ropes. Don't get one of those tall tanks, get a wide one.

frome what I have seen in my ropes the feed better and even play when there in a good size group.I ended up loosing a couple when my tank whent on the fritz,I notist right away in my serviver he whent in to hiding and almost seems to be pouting, if you would.
He some times whould hang with my ornate, but you could tell the do better when they are in a good size group.

I've got 2 right now and might get 2 more i'm looking for one that has some size to it probably next shipment

i love these fish real good personality and can live well in groups

My ropes don't seem to interact at all

infact... 1 is out most of the time swimming about and looking for food. One comes out every once in a while and comes out if any food fall in the tank. The third.... hides constantly unless worms or shrimp are put in as food. He is like a moray eel.... just sits ina rock, pokes his head out, if he is somewhat interested he pops half his body out... and if its not something he wnats, back in the cave he goes.

but they don't swim together. He do stay in the same area (what i like to call the rope ranch) which is just a bunch of rocks stacked together that only they can get into, but thats it for interaction.

in fact, 2 of them were FIGHTING a while ago. have no idea why but they fought just like other poly's... chompin on the tails.

I got some weird ropes
