How many Oscars?

I would say 2x FX5's with 2xpower heads would be good. I have no idea about the other filters you mentioned.

i think a pond pump would be WAY to strong for a 15g sump, i think you should be fine with the filtering you have and just save up a little now so that in the off chance you need another canister when they all get full grown you already got the funds ready for it :) but yeah you could have total of 3-4 but if a pair forms than most likely the other Os wont be tolerated (i personally would just stick with 2 in a tank but it has been done successfully with more), but if you get lucky and get like all females or something then aggression wise it should be fine just keep and eye on your nitrates as they get bigger and how do you know your texas is stunted at only 6in did he come from really small tank? and is it a tex or a carpintis?

Thanks for the advice. The Texas, is about 4 inches and has't grown at all since I purchased him about 6 months ago, He may not be but it seems like it. I meant they're all 6" or under. I've had high nitrates before, however I have not tested them in a while because the fish seem really healthy, eating well and showing relatively good growth. Think i'll go with 4 small guys and if they pair off i'll move the others on.

Thanks again Jake.

yeah i mean you should always know what your nitrates are especially with Os that are prone to HITH, with Os it is reccomended to keep your nitrates at 20 or below, and how does your tex poo is it reg color or white? if its white poo then he may have internal parasites which are keeping him from growing GOOD LUCK

with most fish 40ppm is acceptable but should be below that, but with Os it is reccomended to be 20ppm or below to prevent HITH as this is thought to be the leading cause of it, maybe you could try adding more bio media to your existing filters and how often do you do a wc and how much?

and always remember that nitrates is the main chemical that leads to growth stunting so the lower you can keep your nitrates the faster your little fishies will grow :)

ok yeah get some more bio media, it is actually the most important part of the filter, carbon is not needed unless you are trying to get meds or tannins out of your water or if it smells strongly for some reason, with only that many small fish in a 160g your nitrates shouldnt be that high even with doing wc every two weeks, that wc schedule should be fine for when they are smaller (with mroe bio media of course) but when they get larger especially with big Os who are one of the messiest fishes you should try to do 50% once a week (myself as well as alot of other people on here have this wc schedule, if you dont have a python or similar contraption to help do your wc it is WELL worth the money, before i got a python i hated wc with my 120 because it was so strenuous but now its hardly any work at all, most of the time is just it draining into sink and filling it back up :))

Thanks again, I do have a similar system to the python, I syphon out the water with a hose pipe an, fill back up straight from the tap, but I keep a close eye on things and it often takes ages to fill up because the tap is so far away that the water which means it is quite slow flowing, also I have to keep adjusting the tap to get the right temp, which is a pain. Just out of interest how does your python system operate?

Thanks Jake
