I've found that small flies are often more productive than bait for sunfish. Try something like a pheasant tail or other dark flies around a size 14-18. You can use them on a spinning rod with a tiny bobber to help with casting/strike detection. Work the fly with small jerks and twitches, or just reel it in nice and slow.

I need to stop providing updates, because something bad always happens. One of my bluegills commited suicide yesterday. I think he wanted to try to get out of the tank, so he took a "running" start and tried to jump out, not taking into effect there was a glass lid on the tank. He hit face first, and hard and sank like a rock. Tried to revive him for over an hour, but by then he was colorless and stiff, so I had to dispose of him.

No one ever said fish were all that bright.
