that amount of full grown cichla will not thrive in a 300 for life. if you keep the water in pristine condition for them they will however live. with that small space and having 2 orinos you will also more than likely see alot of aggression issues as they get bigger. if you are going to do it keep the water absolutely pristine, lots of temp and lots of oxygen.
 
I honestly thought Peacock bass could live in a "smaller" tank for life until I went to a LFS that had an easily several thousand gallon tank (easily 10k+) with some Peacock bass. RTGG, some oxydora sp. catfish and some stingrays. THese Cichlas were easily 30 inchs. They were beyond massive.
 
+1 i mean sure you could keep way more in there but that just would look good it would be to over stocked i wouldnt do apair i would do 3 maybe 4 but thats pushin it
