How many peacoks and haps in 55 gallon would you suggest?
Filteration: 2 Aquaclear 70, 1 sunsun 302 canister.

You'll be better off going mbuna in a 55. If you're set on peacocks or haps, do peacocks as haps tend to get a lot larger. I'm not sure an all male tank will work well in a 55, would probably be better off getting a group of 1 male and 4-5 females of a smaller growing peacock.

It can work. I had an all male 4ft 65 gallon running for years. You just have to be ready to remove fish that become problems quickly. 10-12 fish should work, just look for smaller haps when choosing fish. Electra, lithobates, and tetrastigma are a few. Also avoid peacocks like Jacobfreibergis, dragonbloods and ob's since these are usually meaner.

Both of the previous posters gave good answers, but in a 48x12" footprint, personally I would stick to mbuna, and smaller ones at that. A good fit would be a group of Pseudotropheus saulosi.
