How many people have tropheus a nd what kind

After you quarantine your new fish to make sure that you'll not be causing problems to your existing colony, remove all the rocks in the tank. Add both groups in together. I like to do it at night with the lights off so they're a little more mellow. Leave the rocks out and the lights off for a couple days. During your next water change, add the rocks back and keep an eye on them. It is possible that you'll have a male get knocked off, but, no big deal in the long run. Adding a large number of fish is way easier than trying to introduce another trio to a established colony, which can be tough. I would go for at least 9 more fish to add to your group of 11, but 6 may work too

That sounds like a great way of adding more fish I was thinking divider but your idea sounds way better.

Thanks SWK! I was thinking of adding another 10 at least. I'll do it that way. This is my first try with them, so rookie mistake only getting 11. Lesson learned :)

Yes we have a few fry swimming in around the rocks maybe more at the size they are now they mostly hide. On the plus there are at least another 5 ir more females holding going by the safety in numbers idea should up the chances of more and more fry surviving. There are also another 5 in another tank at around the three qquarter inch size. Did you get your new ones and if so how did intro ducing them go. We added a large group to ours last summer but they were all juves and had no problem.

I just finished the wet/dry and overflows that I needed to put more fish in there. Now I'm waiting on the cash reserves to build up again before dropping $300+ on fish. Probably would be a good idea to get the GF something nice so she is more amenable to my spending more on fish. Haha... Glad you have some new additions :)

I guess I'm lucky my wife likes the fish as much as me. These tropheus are costly for their size thats for sure did yo look into a fx5 cost compared to the overflow. We have picked up a few for 150 used and the filter and move huge amounts of water and a super easy filter to set up.

I looked into getting an FX5, but wanted to get everything out of the tank and into the sump (heater, UV, bio, etc) so the tank looks less cluttered. I probably should add another filter for mechanical, but since I live where I live there are never any good deals on filters (there isn't even an aquarium club here) and the cheapest I have seen FX5s for is $225+. I wound up pulling the impeller on my Mag 350 and running it's micron filter in sump for mech. Next time I do this (I have a 220 I need to get set up), I probably will go with an FX5 and a smaller sump.

A sump will actually increase the ware volume of your tank because of the size of the sump tank. It is nice to have less clutter in the tank easier to clean and catch fish too.
