I don't think there is any trick to breeding most ray species. You just need the right pair to make it work. I have one mature male that isn't interested in breeding and two that are, of those 2 one has bred with 2 females but only one has carried to term. The other is trying with another female with no success and is only interested in her. The male that has bred is not interested in her. okay I think i'm confused.lol

Five or six years ago there were probably less than 100 hobbyists that had bred them. In the last few years there has been an explosion of captive bred potamotrygons. I am willing to bet that there are 500+ hobbyists out there that have had at least one litter.

I am guessing that boards like this one provide the interest to hobbyists and pass along bits and pieces of vital information. It is great for the hobby and for the species.
