Just wondering how many or who uses aerator in their pleco tanks?

I never used it before but after my buddy had power outage for 24 hours ( luckily his neighbor have generator which he let him use one of the plugs) I decided to get one of those battery back up aerator.

I figured its a good investment since we spend enough money!

Here's what I got

I have couple battery powered blue ones that I got before but I don't really use them, they are very loud. I run a few sponge filters in my sump for extra bio filter and for power outages. When the power goes out, I just grab them in place them into the tanks that doesn't usually run air. I then run an extension cord from the inverter I have on my dual battery landcruiser. If the battery runs low, I'll just start the landcruiser for a while.

Need to look into a generator, or one of those automatic switching inveters that charges a car battery usually, and switches to the battery power automatically during an outage.

How many tanks does that run? I have a generator and a system with car batteries that will run a 20w aerator for a few days.

Just supposed to be rated for 55 gala but there are two outlet. Im running it on my 120, I figured it will hold it enough till I get home to run generator, which I still need to pick up a small one

I run 2 Fx5s and 3 tetra 300 airpump (i think, not near the pumps to check) for at least good 9~8 hrs without running the car's two batteries dry, haven't really pushed it yet.

So are u guys saying that your air pump can run 12v and 120v?

If you have the space. You can always get this. http://www.tripplite.com/en/products/model.cfm?txtModelID=2938

Connect as many deep cycle car batteries as you need. It'll keep them charged normally. When the power goes out. It'll instantaneous switch to battery power. Think of it as a computer ups on steroids. Normally 2 is more than enough.

I don't have the space and outages usually don't last that long. If I live somewhere where storms causes outages often. I'll definetly get that setup.

I ALWAYS keep battery air pumps handy for moving fish or power outages. Used to keep a sponge filter running on an air pump so when power went out I'd just switch to battery and still have filtration.
