How many pounds of sand for a 90 gallon?

I used the tahitian mood sand in my 90 gallon...not sure if it is comparable to concrete sand but I used 80 lbs of sand and have about a 1.5" sand bed. Hope this helps.

What's the footprint on a 90, is it 6 sq. ft., like a 75G only taller? If so then 75-80lbs sounds about right. I think it comes in 50lb bags like PFS though does it not? If so one bag would be enough if you don't mind a little shallower sand bed, around 1" or so.

The bag should have a volume of sand, I know my pool filter sand did, I just used that to calculate how many bags for a certain depth.

when i set up my tanks ive been going 1 pound per gallon and it seems to be about 1.5 inches every time. of course my tanks are standard rectangle dimensions. i dont know if it would make a difference if ur tank dimensions were different like bowfront or something.

A 90 is 48" x 18" so a foot print of 864 sq. in. Which happens to be exactly half a cubic foot.

A 50# bag of play sand is ~.5 cubic feet. Assuming the sand you're talking has approximately the same density, you'd need about 75#. So two bags should be more than enough.

a 50lb pound should do the trick for u. I have a 90G and used a 50lb bag of colorquartz to give me a deep enough bed
