How many rainbow cichlids in a 55g

Okay I may only be able to get 2 because the person is waiting on someone to see if they want them. I know the person so hopefully they will b able to save me a pair. Are there other cichlids I could put in with em to be compatible? If the ever do start breeding or get aggressive I have dividers on hand

I had a pair in a 55 with semi aggressive tankmates and i never really felt the need for a divider. Yeah they chase away but i didnt see them kill anyone when trying to breed.

4 Rainbows in a 55 sounds like a cool tank.

Well the person cancelled the deal. But the person has 6 rainbows and if you buy 4 he is giving the other 2 free with them. Would 6 be okay?

Or I can go with a docile pair or trio of jack dempseys.

Which do you think I should go with?

Take the six, then when you get two pairs rehome the rest.

Here the pics of the jacks. It looks like one has red on its head. Is rare a good thing increasing value? In a sucker for fish with pearly scales. Here some pics
