How many red bellied piranha

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when in the world were red bellies in the genus serrasalmus?
Exactly what I thought. Been out from piranha game for so long so Im not even sure now.

I have some old books and they are called Serrasalmus natteri in them.
I have just been googling and it seems that is the old name.

Yes in one of the Pirahna books titled Pirahna fact or fiction they were Serrasalmus Natteri. Some of you are very young lol, I also have Dr Axelrods Atlas where even some cichlid scientific name order has changed.

I have the exact same book.
It's probably simular to what happened to cichlasoma.

My dad had the gt's off me a few months back.
I have a group of thorichthys in there at the moment.
I am actually getting another 7x2 x2.The one I have now has gained a few scratches. When I eventually get the new one,the old one I will set up in my garage.
I have been keeping mainly cichlids for over 25 years, probably longer.I thought it was time to set up a biotope for something non cichlid.
I saw a piranha display on Monday at the national sea life centre in Birmingham. It really appealed to me and I thought it would make a change from the cichlids.

Have you ever considered planted?

Might be a huge undertaking in that size tank though...piranhas will look good, and I know you'll do them justice biotope wise!
