What are the dimensions of the tank itself....?

thats about 5ftx2x2
or 150 gallons

and he showed the dimentions of the tank were 151x61x64cm

with that size tank you could get about 5-6 for life

if the tank are 125gallon or 150gallon I would go with 4-5 full grown adult for life.

many thanks Guys...

do Ps live with each other well or is there an art to keeping them from eating each other?

Again many thanks guys ;)

It all depends, you could get one that is just an ass and wont tolerate any other fish period. Or you could get some that live together in perfect harmony. Just make sure you keep your water conditions top notch, keep them well fed, and take good care of them and they will figure out the rest themselves. Just remember piranhas are unpredictable so right when you think all is going well, something bad may happen!

if you speaking about "piranha" be careful to remember what species you are talking about. there are over 30 species of piranha and every single species and piranha have different personality.

if you going with pygo that would be red, piraya, tern and caribe...that can be house as a group together. you can get all 4 species in one tank together with no problem.

if you talking about Serraslamus speices it's requried experience piranha keeper to keep serra together like Geryi, gold mac, dent, etc.....it can be done but you have to know what you are doing.

if you want a single serra in your big tank go with a big rhomb, or diamond rhomb IMO...

if you are new to p keeping, id say go with red bellied piranhas (pygocentrus natteri). they are the most forgiveful piranhas in the sense that they are tuff bastards that survive almost any conditions. they are pretty easy to keep and eat about anything (including themselves, but mostly if you dont feed them well). they are the most common ps found in petshops, but be careful. young ps look like red bellied pacus, which get way bigger and uglier...haha. you can find many articles about pacus and how to differenciate them from rbp. DONT LET AN IGNORANT SELL YOU AN UGLY PACU! if you want a real show off shoal, u should go with a caribe (pygocentrus cariba) shoal. they get bigger (12 to 14 inches) are thicker and way more aggressive. they almost look the same as red bellies, but they have white eyes instead of red, and juvi have a humeral black spot that tends to dissapear with time. they'll do you more attitude, will be more aggressive, but will also be more territorial, which means you'll probably lose one ore two during growth. adults wont pick on themselves too much, but if you buy them young, plan you will lose at least one.

as for how many, count 20 to 30 gal per rbp (which would mean 6-7, but your thank is only 5 feet long, which means less territory space...so id say 4-5 for life too, but buy 6 in case you loose one and if it lasts, 6 will fit ok too)

in case you'd like caribas, id say not more than 4 adults in your tank

hope that helps!

aight good luck man!
