Just as the title states, how many salvinis could I do in a 55 gallon? They only get about 6" but I understand the possible aggression with this species. Could I keep them with anything else in a 55 gallon? If so, what are some suitable tankmates? Thanks!

I'd say single pair, raphael catfish on the bottom, and maybe giant danios up top. I would say tiger barbs but I worry that the pair would harass them because they live in the lower water column. The GDs generally stay up top ime
I'd start with 4-6 small ones, let a pair form...and remove the rest...

Yes, but probably no other cichlids in a 55 gallon. Depends on the individual fish as well.
If I were to do a pair of salvinis and 1 striped raphael cat, how many giant danios could I put in there? I want the tank to be pretty active and since I stay on top of my tank maintenance I would like to do as many as my 55 gallon can sufficiently hold without over-stocking it.
