how many severums in a 500 gallon (with tank mates) help :)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Collection point is where the fish is collected from in the wild. It can be individual rivers such as the rio tapajos or rio inirida or based on the country it is collected from. Many fish have varying levels of differences based on where they are collected to the point that they are sometimes considered separate unidentified species. Severums in my experience are effected greatly based on where they are collected because they show large differences in colors and bars/markings.

Oh never knew sevs get effected by the "collection point" to that extent..Good to know thanks buddy

Out of curiosity what kind of severums do you have Ryan? I think I see some tapajos, and notatus for sure, but you have similar tastes and some sexy sevs. Whatever they were sold to you as, collection point seems to effect severums a great deal.

That particular tank was as follows:

1 super red severum
1 gold severum
1 green severum
1 Heros sp. 'rotkeil' (I bought this from Jeff Rapps as a Tapajos severum, but it developed a red neck and only had 8 bars, which are the same features as rotkeils. It didn't end up like the red-nosed Tapajos I've seen elsewhere.)
1 Heros sp. 'Atabapo'
6 Heros notatus (1 male, 5 females)

This video is five years old. I've since sold the gold, rotkeil, greens, and female notatus. I lost the big male super red. I still have the Atabapo (which put on another 2 - 3" and ended up being a female) and the male notatus (although he looks pretty rough now).
