How many silver arowanas for a 650 gallon tank?

Hi folks,

Somebody I've met on another forum has recently built a 650-gallons tank. The footprint is 350 cm x 70 cm, and the tank is 110 cm tall. How many silver arowanas would be suitable for such a tank? Also, can you recommend any tankmates... no exotic species please, just the widely available types.

Okay, there's been tremendous debate regarding tank width recently. I know. Any other ideas?

a fish that has the potential to grow 3'plus will be uncomfortable in a 70cm wide aquarium not to mention stunting the growth of the aro

Silver aros will be jumpy if they don't feel comfortable. Maybe a smaller variety would be best.

If you believe the silver arowana will do fine in a tank that is 70cm (28") wide then your gonna have to develop your own opinion. IMO that tank would do good for a very long time, but eventually a wider tank would be needed.

That's not my tank, so I don't feel strongly on the matter. The width is less than ideal but the tank is huge.

Huge is a relative term. A swimming pool would be huge until you drop Shamu into it.

Whats your point? Is the sheer volume supposed to make up for the inadequate width?
