You do amuse me. The tank is 500 liters with 100 gallons of water, i.e. ~3/4 full. It has never been 1/3 full, except when there were no fish in it. Sorry, your memory fails you. :screwy:

And a triangular tank doesn't create dead ends for an arowana, unless you have a very odd tank with obtuse angles.

I see, I'm sure you'll be fine then.

To answer your question a silver arrow would probably begin to stunt inside 3 years. Aquiring a tank meaningfully larger than your current one is no small task and would probably require more than a year of planning and prep work. I doubt you plan on starting that next step in 1.5 years after purchase. If you want an aro don't go silver its that simple. Do any auzie or asian aro. problem solved, I would say the min for a silver arrow is 4 ft. deep and you are definately not there.

Its fine, buy a silver arrow and give it away in 2 years, not a issue. Just don't try to sell a flippin stunted arrow on these forums or craigslist 5 years from now. There is nothing wrong with growing fish and selling/trading them when they reach the end of their stay in your tank. I have a friend who loves fry and young cichlids but can't handle their adult temprements. He gets the cheap small babies and passes em on to me and 2-3" in size for breeding. Works for both of us. Just realize the reality of your situation.

a 350cm x 110cm footprint sounds nicer to me, why didnt your friend go with that aproach?
was your friend planning on getting aros?

Thanks for the advice but really, what are you talking about? Do you even realise that this is not my tank? The guy asked me how many SAs would be suitable in case he decides to give up the Pangasius cats and I've asked for opinion. I'm assuming he will get juvies since I've never seen adult silvers for sale over here. Also, I would never sell any of my fish overseas anyway, thank you ver much.

The bizarre footprint is because they decided to divide their office with this aquarium. Like a wall. That's why the tank is 110 cm tall. And no, he wants to get Pangasius sanitwongsei, which is far less suitable to that tank, or to any tank, for that matter.

Edit: so I recommended either silver arowanas or iridescent sharks (Pangasius hypophthalmus.)
