How many Tanks Do You Have Running...?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
224 tanks totalling 5748 gallons. Buuuut, yesterday the 400 acrylic sprung a leak AGAIN and is now drying for repairs :(
About half are on an auto water change system with overflow drains. The rest get WC's as needed and many of those will be on the auto WC system by spring.
No spouse to grouse! About 5000 fry at all times, fed by a 15 gallon brine shrimp factory.
"A beginner has killed dozens of fish, an expert has killed thousands". With 92 species, almost all cichlids, and many are quarrelsome, attrition is a fact of life, new spawns more than make up for the losses.
We all start somewhere: My first tank was a 10 with a pair of convicts and 25 years later, the obsession has me firmly locked in it's jaws!

I have 1 75g, 1 6g wife wont let me get any more, or get any bigger,

Wait, nevermind. Do YOU live in a warehouse?

I have 2 6' tanks running and 1 4' tank running.

1 6'er and the 4'er are display tanks and set up with a closed valve for fast 50% water drainage to my sump in the basement with just the turn of a knob. Makes huge water changes quick and easy now that my poly's are big enough not to get sucked up the pvc.

The other 6'er is a growout tank with baby monsters. This tank has to get siphoned out the old fashion way but its really quick with my water hose/spicket about 7 feet away.

All tanks get 50% new water weekly and sometimes the growout tank gets it 3 times a week due to over feeding.
