How Many Tanks Is Too Many and Become a Chore?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Look into a constant automatic water changer. Then all you're doing is cleaning filters, and if you're overfiltered enough than you only have to do that once every 2-6 months.

Basically, you drip water in (I would use one or more raindrip irrigation drippers, you can get them in 1/2, 1, 2 gallons per hour) and have it overflow out to a drain. You'd only need 1/4" tubing to each tank. You could get a filter that removes chlorine/chloramine, or you could use the output from an RO filter.

IF YOU ENJOY FISHKEEPING, LIKE MOST OF US HERE, NOTHING IS TOO MUCH WORK FOR US. THE REWARDS ARE TOO MUCH TO THINK OF IT AS WORK.

UPDATE: I start training the fish on pellets and realized it's so much more enjoyable when I don't have to prepare meaty food for my fish daily. That's like cooking for someone daily. I still have to do my maintainance but I save time on the weekday to do other things. For those of you out there feeling the wrath of the hobby being a chore, please rethink what you're doing that makes you feel this way. Sometime simplifying things will help.
