How many times a day?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I feed my grow outs small meals 3, sometimes 4 times a day but plants, lots of water changes, etc keep my nitrates down, around 5 ppm at all times. Water quality is as important as food when it comes to health and growth.

Oscars are not sexually mature at 6 inches so it's not likely that yours have paired up. Also, check for internal parasites it might be the reason why your fish do not grow.

tank 1.50mx50cmx50cm counting what its filled with water, will post a video in a moment

That doesn't sound like a lot... how many liters/gallons does it hold?

I did a quick conversion and it gave me approximately 80 gallons?

^ agree with above. Not a hole lotta room for those fish especially that combination. I agree about the oscars. They have to be pretty much full grown to pair off.

I also wanted to add dominance plays a role. If your oscars are getting picked on and not being aloud to feed as much they won't grow as fast. Stress can hinder growth too.

Any larger fish I feed once a day, if that. Younger fish do require more frequent feedings but 2-3 should be more than enough.

My midas just had a 5 day fast (I was out of town) and you can't even remotely tell. Most people VASTLY over feed their fish.

Yes i think youre right, i think i dont have the right size right now, not at home, will post the video so you can check the size, so you can tell me if they need more space

so here is the video, as you can see the tank its not that small so i dont think the tank size has something to do
i took this video to the only decent LFS in the city and they told me that my oscars are mating, they had never fight before so thats why i think that they are mating too, you can also see the male Trimac on the video

I have moved my bigger fish down to once a day also.

I agree with Modest Man, most people do vastly overfeed their fish. I also only feed adult fish once a day, and not at all on water change days.
