Hey guys. I have a 375 aquarium and was curious about how many tinfoil barbs would be acceptable. I'd like to have a group of 7-9 but am unsure if this will make them cramped. Other inhabitants include a (young) oscar, 2 jack dempseys, a green terror, 2 Peruvian cichlids, a pictus cat, a common pleco, and a Hawaiian flagtail.

No doubt you'll be getting your tinfoils at the cute little juve stage of about 2-3". You must bear in mind just how quick they grow, and how big they get. I have a 360 and if I was going with tinfoils only, nothing else, i'd probably go with 5 or 6 as a long term stocking plan. You want to get 7-9, but you have other fish in the mix too! Your bio load will be extreme and your tank will be a blur with all those tinfoils darting about.

Agree with the above, they get as large as koi/carp and are equally as prolific in waste production, so at full size they will put quite a strain on the filtration system nutrients and mechanical.
Since most of the other residents are S American (or at least new world), I would choose some type of large S American tetras (of course I'm quite anal about geography, and matching fish with like water parameter preferences).
