I have only been in the hobby for 2 years. I had to sell/give away all my fish when i moved over seas. But my oldest fish of all was a Betta, he was around 2 years old when he died, ( 6 months after i moved, friend cared for him). But so far again my oldest fish is about 5 months old and the other oldest one is my GT at about 8 months old, was like 5 when i got him.

I have had my Schlager (oscar) for 4 years

I just got back into the hobby now after a 20yr absence. Ive had my fish now for about 6 months. I planned from the get go to keep them long term. I started with a 60g (36x18x24) grow out for the first few months and then purchased the final home for my fish just recently. I now have everyone in a 120g (60x18x26). My stock will be full when they are all grown so I plan to get rid of the Sailfin pleco and 2 of my red hooks.

I just got back into the hobby 3 years ago. Before that i was moving around too much from state to state so I only kept bettas. My oldest betta was 5 years old. Now that I'm pretty much Set where I'm .I plan on keeping my fish for life I will move with them if I must. My oldest is a clown pleco of 3 years she was 1.5" when I got her and is now a round 3". My keyhole cichlid my first even cichlid is 2 year old but I bought him big he has not grown much.

Yes is seems like people are always trading fish or changing there stock. Not many people seem to keep them for life and they have thier reasons. Yet there are always a few fish that you just can not part with. Some may come and go but you might have that one that will always be with you. For me Carl the keyhole is that fish.

For me all the fish I have now I love. Only fish I was going to sell is one of my blue acaras because I don't have room and they were a pire but had a messy break up. I'm picky about who gets my fish so I still have them. I have to have a good reason get rid of a fish.

I've gone through quite a few changes with my fish in the past several years, but a majority of the fish I have now I plan on keeping for life, if possible. Right now the one I've had the longest is my Syno. that I've had over 6 years. With a few exceptions, I try to get my fish as young juveniles and raise them myself. Right now, most of them are less than 3 years old

I've got a buenos aires tetra which is about 5 or 6 years old

this is my paracrhomis loisellei. i got her at about 9 years ago at 1 inch as a jaguar . she's about 8 inchs .
