Yeah.... stick to 1...if not they kill one another and u end up with none.
 
I'd say 6. I always say"fill her up". Just kidding. But I had 2 in a 240 and I'd say that was plenty of room for them. And they wern't alone either, though ther wasn't much more
 
I had 2 in a tank smaller then 8ft for more then 5 years without any incident. At the end it was accidental causes which ended up in deaths not fighting.
 
For a sliver best to have at least 2.5f width.

If you want to keep more then one, you could safely keep 2 silvers together. Silvers are tamer then asians so you'd most likely be ok. But a lot of supervision is required during the initial mixing.
 
I would say one; but I have seen pics with three in a 180 that looked really good. A two foot width for a three foot fish seems kinda cruel....... though that is a human perspective and not a fish perspective.
