Just remember, the more fish you have the more filtration and circulation you need. I have an aquaclear 110-and a 70, with a cascade by penplex 60 canaster filter that feeds a turbo twist uv sterilizer, and a ehime 2227 wet/dry bio filter. Then I also have 2 power head on opposite ends circulating water.

22 6 Inch fish in a 125 doesn't seem like a huge bioload problem to you?

There would be no problem, as long as you have the right filtration.

I never had African fry. Are they super protective like the South American? Wasn't thinking babies. I figured it would be overcrowded so they wouldn't breed

Also African cichlid are mouth brooders. They incubate there eags/young in there mouths for 28 days then release them into the wild to fend for them self. In a tank, most get eaten by other fish, but I find quite a bit still survive.here is a picture of a "pregnant female" electric yellow I have right now.uploadfromtaptalk1386533172542.jpguploadfromtaptalk1386533330178.jpg see how there mouths look to be full, there baby fish in there mouths. These are 2 different electric yellow I have. Just took those pictures for you right now.
