How much biomax aka ceramic rings are people using to filter say 240 - 300 gallons, and just for the sake of it say it has heavy bio load.

Well as some of you may or may not know I have been saving for a 240G. well I have most of the tank money saved, and have been buying other things like heaters and sand ect for it as I have money. This way on my birthday when I get the tank I can just set it up. I will run a sump and a canister, and will house all the fish that are in my 55 sig.

Save your self some cash and go with pot scrubbies instead of the biomax. Just as good as the biomax if not better.

I have diy media now, I just want it to look pro

Fluval bio-max is measured in grams. I get the 500gram box's as it always available. For my 90gal i use 12 boxes(6000grams) contained in two canisters. I needed 12 boxes. I pay $12.40 per box(not sure what it costs where you are) so a total of almost $150 just for my media. Bio-max is great for HOB or canister filters, but if your using a sump or wet/dry, i'd go with bio-balls(still get the pro look) 12 boxes of bio-max is around 2 gallons. You would probely need more than that.
