So my buddy says I might have a pair of festae. I bought 6 and was hoping to get a pair so I could breed them and make a little money and also its my favorite cichlid. But I was just curious how much could they sell for and do you think I could sell the to lfs or would they just give me store credit??

depends on what the parents look like. I wouldn't do it to make money though just because all the time, food, and electric keeping them i would think it would balance itself out to no profit. I would just do it because they are awesome fish. gl

They are beautiful fish!! But if they breed I would like to see if I can make a little money im not talking about a fortune. And ya I think my lfs would only give me credit not cash either. Just thought I would get some opinions.

I'd take a few to grow out.

Sales price depends on size, I've seen 1-2" ones for $2.

Don't let them huddle you festae are not cheap fish in some parts proletarian can't find them ..avg...price for 1-2" fry 10-15$$$$......if the parent look official 20-25$$$ at that size......

I have no idea what the guy means by "look official" - Festae are Festae. And no, they aren't $2 fish.
Stores, though, won't normally give you cash - but you can do well selling locally yourself, or online.
Also, if you go to the LFS, they won't give you that much, since they have to re-sell them themselves.

Americancichlids.net sells them for 9.99 for 1.5" these are from a reputable breeder. So your going to have to beat that price. The Denver market is not that big, you'll sell them pretty well at first on CL but then the market will dry and you'll have a harder time unloading them.
