How much crushed coral to raise p.h in a 55.

If you are going to do actinic, keep up the water changes, you will get algae really fast if you don't. I don't know what rock you are talking about, but I bought lace rock at the LFS and it looks really nice. I would go with the AC110 if I were you. It is a lot easier to clean than the canister and thats what you need it for anyways.

would this be to much lighting for my set-up...48" 260 Includes two 21"
65 watt Actinic &
two 21" 65 watt
10000°K bulbs
its from coral life

for a 55 gallon you would do fine with just 2 65 watt lamps, Coral life makes this set up too. I beleive that with africans the 10000k will wash out alot of there color and a 6700k would work better.

i was thinking actinic to bring out the africans color. what would be the perfect lighting for africans or maybe post a link to the kind of strip light you think would be perfect.....again thanx all for the imput im getting all worked up about this :nilly: :nilly: :nilly:

I got my actinic T-5 retrofit for 18 bucks at the LFS. Now all I have to do is build a canopy for it. The blue looks amazing but now algae is starting to grow after 6 months without every having a problem.

Very nice, very reasonable. I would get it if I were you.

That would be perfect for your 55g, which lamp set up you going with?

i was thinking 1 actinic and what you guys suggested, a 6700k i think

Either one will work. Why not get the cheaper one and then buy a separate retrofit actinic strip like I did.
