i am running about a 18-19 times turn over + i have a 500gph power head in my armatus tank. He seems to get behind the large rock in the middle out of the real fast current.

That's pretty healthy turnover. How big is the tank and how are you filtering it? What are you using for aeration?

just a 210. with about a 40 gallon sump.

it is run with 1 quite one that does 3624 gph (after the friction loss from the head ft) it does about 3200 gph... and a rio that does like 550gph(?) which is really around 400 gph after the friction loss. so a total of 3800 gph. 1 is run to one side of the tank and the other to the other side. I like to have 2 pump incase one goes down, or in the case of a power outage, i can use a power inverter to run he small pump only..

I am not using anything for areation, but with it skimming the tank through the overflow boxes and running through a homade sump it gets lots of aeration. Sump is full of pot scrubbies, I run 1 layer of filter floss for mechanical, replaced every week.

Ditto...my 4 little ones hangs out in the calm spot. My 3 larger ones before hung out in the calmer spot as well.

I have yet to see one that is right directly infront of the pump output doing exercise ;)

what my armatus is always at the gym running on the treadmill, and pumping iron... he is a muscle head

Wow man, lol I just read that. Very healthy turn over. I think my 96X34X34 I just set up is around 480 gal. I only have an 1800 GPH for sump and an FX5. I think thats only around 4X over. Hmmm, making me think I need to redue something lol. I have a big powerhead for aeration though. I am considering putting one more in.
My Armatus have always stayed in the calm spots. I do notice my little scomb likes to be in the current though.

Great i just got a 16"+ Armatus and i got 2 RIO 2500 in the corner for current in a 240. I was thinking about putting a 2200GPH power head instead but when i tested it out on a big clown knife he could not handle the current at all. I want the Armatus to be happy. but dont want to much current that might stress him out.

It won't stress him at all. I have 8,850 gph of current in my little 150 growout and my tat who was less than half the size of your armatus handled it with no issues at all. Your big guy will love it. :)

If your worried about stressing him out, start off slow, then add a new powerhead every other day until you think the armatus has found his sweet spot. At 16" he should be able to handle white water rapids in the wild, so I wouldnt worry about too much current in a aquarium.

Okay i am gonna put that big 2200gph pond power head in there in the morning. That power head has a big sponge in it also and is great for cleaning the tank. I was thinking of adding a strong long bubble stone in there also!
