this is my point

unless someone in your state and area can tell you the exact price for each type of tiger then you wont get the info you need

all you will get is what i posted in my 1st post

i can get them for this or wow they are expencive i have seen LOADS and LOADS of threads asking how much they cost

if you would wait 3 months just to save a few $$$ then you could be waiting a long time to get the right fish at the right price

i just paid £125 for a 8 inch NTT yes that was way over priced but it was the right size that i needed and i saw it in a shop so got it yes i could have waited another 6 months looking for one that size but why if i had the money

if you are trying to save a few $$$$$ then maybe tigers are not the fish for you as they cost a lot to feed

Its true you can order what you want from home and the internet is good in some ways but bad in others

you can go on line and order 10 x 1 inch tigers for half the price that they sell for in a LFS but out of that 10 you may get 0 that look good or what you are looking for

its a big gamble buying on line

this is my point if you go into a LFS and see a tiger you like and its what you are looking for why let it go just to save a few $$$$$

you are right but why buy a fish with nasty stripes just because its a tiger

this is my point mainly with ST why would someone pay big money for a ST with nasty stripes and one eye just because they want to own a ST this makes no sence to me

According to you, people wouldn't even KNOW they were paying a big price because nobody should share prices. :ROFL:Maybe you assumed that was the low end of the price range

Plus, you answered your own question in previous posts.

if i was you i would go door to door and ask how much tigers are in your local area

or you could put a WTB thread up in the buy and sell then everyone can sell you the not so nice looking tigers at the same price you think you have confirmed is right

once again their is no set price for a tiger

ALL fish are more expensive in OZ if someone from OZ tells you that a 5 inch IT costs $400 would you rush out and buy one for $200 and think you got a bargain

Thank you to those who chimed in on prices. Now i know my LFS are in the right ballpark.

Thanks from me too. It's amazing how worked up people get over pricing or other people's theories on buying fish. Everybody take a deep breath and find somebody to give you a hug.

Cooler heads have prevailed. lol, hence why i've stop bothering with that kid.

Have you picked any dats up yet?

thanks for your kind comment calling me a kid i haven't been called that for about 35 years :grinno:

just go out and buy the fish if you like them and you have the money i cant see what the problem is so what if they are a few $ more than you wanted to pay its a hobby nothing more nothing less

If I wanted the fish, and the price wasn't ridiculous, I'd get the fish.

I only have one NGT, so they aren't my specialty, but here's my local prices:
$25 small dats (2")
$80 (4-5")
6"+ gets steep depending on species and pattern

are the 2" dats on the price of $25 are perfect stripes or not? if not its overpriced here 2" perfect stripes cost only $10

I paid $60 for a 4-5" st, sounds like I got a good price:)

FINALLY picked up a single Dat. microlepis. He is 2" and is still not in my tank. Paid $27.03 after taxes. He has creamy white/yellow sides with black stripes that faded in and out as I was capturing and transporting him. When I moved him to my acclimating "tank" his front half turned dark black and back turned pale cream colored. Pics as soon as I get him settled. Thanks to all who contributed. Don't feel like I got the deal of the century but also don't feel like I got ripped off.
