How much do you guys pay for acrylic locally?

So I have watched some of joeys videos of him building those acrylic tanks and I have seen some people say they pay about $300 a sheet.. How much do you guys pay, when you built an acrylic tank? I was quoted $600 for 1 8' x 4' sheet
 
$600 is expensive and cheap for 8x4 sheet.
$600 is very expensive for 1/4" thickness, it is cheap for 1" thickness, and it is unbelievable price for 3" thickness sheet.
First question, how thickness are you looking at?

I was looking at 1/2'' which was $600 but I could go down in thickness
 
1/2 thickness on $600 is a good price. But if you are able to pick up in Detroit area, i still have few pieces left for a better price.
 
1/2 acrylic from glasscages.com is 19 per square foot which would put you right at 600 for a single sheet.

1/4 inch was 8 dollars a sheet

$8 a sqft or a sheet? Where is it?
 
What are the dimensions of what you are wanting to build? There aren't many sizes I would use 1/4" acrylic for and I have only done build research, haven't built my first one yet. I wouldn't sleep at night if the tank is taller than a foot or so with 1/4" acrylic.
