where do you all live that electricity is that cheap? i'm only running a 210 and a 180 currently. all the other tanks have been shut down because of my electricity bill.
all of my tanks are insulated and run only the minimum amount of heaters to keep the fish healthy during the winter. i have foil and foam insulators on the sides and a 3/8" thick plexiglass cover on the top with a blanket to keep the heat from rising out of the top. and my electricity bills are still over $200 sometimes $300.
and then i spend about $80 per month on fish food, including market shrimp that i get usually for about $4 per lb. and tilapia at about $2 - $3 per lb and hikari cichlid gold (2 - 4 bags per month) $5 per 8.8 oz bag and Jumbo Carnisticks (large bag) $37.
i look forward to the summer every year.. my electricity bill goes down to just over $100.. but the food bill is always the same, or sometimes more. before i started keeping fish here in this house my electricity bill was $60 - $80 with 4 chest freezers, 2 fridges, the washer and dryer and all flourescent lights.

i spend more than a bill on food per month. ive never tried to calculate energy cost and equipmen but it seems im always needing something
Every weekend I am buying food or other supplies. Between my rays cudas gar and aro they eat alot of food. Not including the nls eaten by my africans or by my flowerhorns
