How much do you work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I pretty much work everyday I can. I paint cars and I try not doing collision repair, so its usually rich people telling me what hours to work. Usually 8-5 mon thru fri, but if I have a deadline, its all day, all week.

When I first started my own business 10 years ago, I averaged over 100 hours a week.

Did that for over 4 years straight. I've now cut back to 6-7 hours a day, still work seven days a week though. In the last 10 years, I've taken a total of 5 weeks off for holidays, plus a week off after a motorcycle crash.

No such thing as sickies when you're self employed.:(

I got 3 jobs:nilly: i work at my family owned antique mall friday thru monday about 25 hrs a week its where iam currently and most of the time when logged in on mfk.I also do construction work room additions and remodalling work tuesday- thrusday regular 8 hour day pounding nails.I also am a bouncer :mr-t: at a pool hall but its not a real job no real money but lots of pizza and beer its like my clubhouse really i know most everybody and is rarly a problem that gets physical so its just a place to come and go with benifits and duties its cool.

Jesus ewurm - what is your job?

Timpon - that's pretty hardcore hours, what company is it?

Thanks for the responses, I find it interesting, people's work schedules.

The most I worked was about 60 hours a week for a videogame company in London, and that was too much.

I own a commercial bakery.

Was a borderline workaholic, not by choice though. The job demanded it. :(

Actually, you can ditch the borderline part.

Am planning on cutting back more hours now, and plan to travel at least a month travelling overseas a year. Cook Islands later this year, USA next year.:)

I manage large accounts for a wholesale flooring company. Contractors always need it now.

I used to work 5 days a week 40 hours at one job and 7 days a week and 42 hours at my second job. But now I work Mon-Fri. 40 hours. But at my current job, I am allowed to work any amount of hours I want. Which is nice if I ever want to get something, just work a few more hours.

along those lines, how much vacation does everyone get? Sorry if this diverts your thread, rumblesushi. If it does, I'll start a new thread.

I'm curious because Europeans are supposed to get so much more paid vacation than we do.

I get 80 hours of vacation a year, plus 80 hours a sick leave a year. 12 paid holidays off. The good thing about the sick leave is you can accumulate them over your career. So, as long as I don't injured or to sick to use up any of my vacation time. I could have 7-9 months of sick leave the last year I work there. One of our operators has 9 months come January 1st. So he is working till March 31st then he is taking the rest of the year off sick before he retires. Lucky son of a gun.

Well in my old job I was a project coordinator for a game company and I can't remember the holiday, it wasn't per year, it was accumulated days. But it would have totalled over 2 weeks a year. I also took sick days whenever I wanted :D
