i was just wondering how much other ppls RBPs ate mine are eating like crazy i have put somewhere in the ballpark of 80 feeder fish in the tank with them this weekend bare in mine i have 12 3" or so RBPs

i don't feed my piranhas feeder fish unless it's convicts that i've bred myself so as not to introduce disease and even that is a rare occurence. i do a decent sized feeding of hikari pellets right away in the morning and then either two or three medium sized pieces of f/t shrimp or fish fillet later on in the evening. i've experimented with alot of different diets over the years and this one seems to be having the best results so far.

right now b/c the tank is new i am keeping them feed so they stay off each others fins once they have been in this tank for awhile i will not feed them as much so i can get that desired frenzy when they feed i do have pellets but they do not seem interested in them as for not feeding live due to disease i am not worried (i know that sounds bad) but i wan t them to eat as much live as possible it is what they would have done in the wild and what i wish them to do 9its a matter of personal preferance) i may try again to get them to eat the pellets but like i said they do not seem to care when they get droped in the tank but i will change there diet from time to time to keep them as healthy as possible i WILL NOT feed them the same thing all the time for i know that that will more then likly cause problems in the future as for the fillet i have allready thought of this but have yet to try it ,but i will

i never said not to feed them live feeders, they're your fish. you got any pictures of these reds?

nah, it's all good... i don't feed my fish live feeders, but i'm not gonna tell anyone else that they shouldn't. i would however suggest that you quarantine the feeders before you feed them to your reds and mix it up as much as possible with the pellets and frozen fillets and shrimp like you were saying.
