I know it will probably vary depending on the size but I am just curious. You can include the size of the Ray too. I've recently acquired a male Motoro that is approx 9-10" disk and to me it seems like he eats very little. I've tried Massivore, Tilapia, and Shrimp and all of them get ignored or spit out. The only thing he'll take is Nightcrawlers, which I break up into smaller pieces per the previous owners suggestion. He eats about 2-3 at night when I feed, so a total of 8-10 pieces since I usually break them into 3 or 4 pieces depending how big the worm is. I try offering more and it's just ignored. I suppose he could be full but that just seems like so little food. I've had fish much smaller eat much more, but they weren't Rays. He is alone in the tank so I can't leave the food in there either, otherwise it would rot over night. Thanks

my old ray used to eat one silverside and then a couple frozen bloodworms

What size tank and water parameters would be helpful. As long as he is eating I would not worry. A sick or stressed out ray will not eat at all or might just chew and spit out food. Some rays are picky eaters and might not eat anything but one kind of food for awhile. If he was not pellet trained before you got him then he definitely will not eat them right after a move.

My motoros eat a just a few mouth-sized pieces of shrimp or tilapia in one sitting. they usually eat until they are full, meaning that there is a big bump on the top of the disc by the tail.

I would think he is stressed but lets get some info and see if we can figure it out.

How long has the tank been set up?
How long have you had him?
What substrate and decor do you have in the tank and what was the tank like he came out of?
you said no other fish, so we know that already...
Powerheads?
Filtration?
Lighting?

readings seem good, so it may not be that..
What water do you use to change (well water, tap, etc)?
How often do you do a water change?
do you add in any stuff to the water when doing a water change? (salt, declor, etc)
Were there any other rays in the tank he came out of?

How long has the tank been set up? - Not 100% sure, around 6 months give or take a month. Had a few angels and Corys that I put in another tank before I added the Ray.
How long have you had him? A week.
What substrate and decor do you have in the tank and what was the tank like he came out of? None in mine, just a few remaining tiny bits of gravel. I changed to Bare prior to getting him to keep it as clean as possible for the time being. Not sure on where he was at. I think there were sand in the pics.
you said no other fish, so we know that already...
Powerheads? 2 x in the tank to keep the muck from settling and to keep the heater (which is in a pcv tube) circulating.
Filtration? 27g sump (plastic tote) with 2 x 450gph pumps and scrubbies
Lighting? Single 40w bulb, pretty dim tank

readings seem good, so it may not be that..
What water do you use to change (well water, tap, etc)? Well
How often do you do a water change? Only had him a week, so one so far. I do weekly. Planning to install a drip like my old house ASAP.
do you add in any stuff to the water when doing a water change? None since it's well water, although the previous owner used stress coat so I did add it when I put him in the tank just for the hell of it.
Were there any other rays in the tank he came out of? Yes, 4 others.

Sounds like you should treat with blackworms. My 10" mm eats a dozen night crawlers in 3 min also feed lots of other things but a healthy ray should eat more in my opinion
