Same with my area. A few years back I raised an oscar and ended up trying to rehome him with pretty much zero interest. I gave him to a local store who already had a tank full of big oscars that people had returned. Oscars in my area are way too common...
 
Wanted to add, Im Not Oscar bashing, just expressing what the sale of an Oscar in my area is like. In fact I currently am a happy Oscar owner!
 
Yep, our LFS had a tankful of huge Oscar, Pacu and other large fish that folks don't want to keep anymore...The LFS owner said that's his lucky day if someone walk into his store and ask him about those fish...he's happy to give them away :D
