granny is complaining about her elec bill being 120.00 and blaming it on my fishtank, so how much is your elec bill? and try to keep it civilized cause i will be showing this to my granny.

Here's one for the granny-I had less tanks setup at my house before this one and the bill was $340 just for electricity, now I moved, setup 300 gallons more, and the bill is now $240, it's all about the insulation.
What sort of time scales are those amounts over?
My electricity supply is upping mine to £70 a month, they set me up at £13 per month when i bought the place which is supposed to be more than enough for someone in my situation but without fish!

$125-$150, with electric heat and an electric stove. I have a total of 214 gallons between 4 tanks, the smallest a 29 gallon. If your filter was made within the last 20 years, I doubt it even uses 60 watts. Unless you have high intensity lighting for certain plants, the "energy hog" of your tank would be the heater, at what, 300 watts? And it's only on periodically.
