Whats wrong with Texas? I wear shorts, T-shirts and flip flops 50 weeks out of the year, hows that snow storm treating you guys? Austin is great, tons of culture with all the schools and festivals we have. I left CA for quality of life reasons, 67k a year goes a great deal further in Austin TX than 80k a year dose in Socal.

Nothin i guess..if you dont mind illegal mexicans, hillbillys, pickup trucks with oversized tires, Texan Baptists, flip flops. haha i am only kidding. I like the snow actually. We know how to drive in it

Wow, I have about 350g running, and it probably only costs me $15-20 a month. I live in a 112 year old house, with poor insulation, so that makes my bill fluctuate much more than the fish tanks have. Adding another roommate makes my bill go up a lot more than all the tanks I have running.

LOL 300 a month? thats effin insane man! Never fails to amaze me how much people pay to live in CA. I run a 90g with 120W HO lights FX5/Mag350, a 30g with 90W HO lights Emp HOB, and a few betta tanks with mini HOB's and a 60w PC lighting them all up, plus my comp is on all the time...I keep my place warm in the winter and cold in the summer, leave the lights on all the time etc. and the highest my bill has ever been was like 110 bucks. If i were to tighten down, keep the lights/electronics off...ease off the ac/heater and cut but on the hrs the lights in my tanks were on I can get my bill down to about 65-70 bucks a month.

Are you in an apartment? I live in ATX too, but in our apartment its usually $115 in the winter, we don't use heat at all ( we hate being hot). In the summer its closer to $180. At our old house it was 1250 sq ft, our bills were anywhere from $320-$460.(thats running 4 tanks)

My is about $300plus.. I live in San Jose, CA and I am running a 300, 240, 120, and a 55 gallons..

Hey why do you think mine is so expensive compared to yours? I dont use that much electricity other than my tanks. I am not too far from you. i usually have 3 to 4 powerheads (UGF), a HOB and a heater per tank.

In California electricity rates can go as high as .40 per kwh if you use a lot of electricity. It sucks really does.
Damn, I thought my electric was high. Where in California are you paying .40 per Kwh ? I'm guessing San Diego and one of those "Smart Meters". I'm in the northern San Joaquin valley and pay .14 to .21 per Kwh. My 240 is on a separate meter and costs me $20 to $25 per month.

we pay more than .40 per kwh :(. Orange county.ca. $600/month

2 ponds 1 pool no tanks atm...time to get some of them solar panels

The utility bill wasn't bad on the hatchery this month. $90 for electric and $119 for gas. All the insulation and storage tank relocations are paying off on what it takes to run 125 tanks.

Yah its an apt, 1st floor faceing south east into a hill, so i get to avoid the weather a lot, plus the 2 people above me keep me pretty well insulated. As far as your old house dang! That electric meter must have had sparks flying off it from spinning so fast:nilly:lol.
